The Rivers State Police Command has scored another major victory in its sustained crackdown on violent crime with the arrest of a notorious suspect and the recovery of several illegal firearms and live ammunition during a targeted intelligence-led operation.

Acting on credible intelligence and in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, PSC, mnips, fcia, operatives swiftly arrested Austine Emenike, popularly known as "Oyibo," at Aluu Village in Rivers State.

During the operation, officers recovered one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns, and five live cartridges, preventing the weapons from being used in further criminal activities.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is allegedly connected to a wider criminal syndicate operating within the state. Police detectives have intensified investigations and are following fresh intelligence to identify and arrest other members of the gang while uncovering the full extent of their operations.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism, bravery, and dedication, Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju reaffirmed the Command's commitment to denying criminals any safe haven in Rivers State.

According to the Commissioner, the arrest and recovery of the weapons demonstrate the Command's resolve to proactively combat violent crime through intelligence-driven policing.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the Police, stressing that community support remains critical in the fight against crime and in ensuring a safer Rivers State.
