RIVERS POLICE ANNOUNCE CONTROLLED DESTRUCTION OF EXPIRED EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS IN TAI LGA
Residents of Rivers State, particularly those living in Kporghor Community, Tai Local Government Area, have been advised not to panic if they hear loud explosions between Wednesday, July 8 and Friday, July 10, 2026.
The Rivers State Police Command has announced that approval has been granted to Halliburton Energy Services Nigeria Limited to safely render and destroy expired explosive materials that have been professionally examined and certified unfit for further use.
According to the Police, the operation will be conducted by a specialized team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN) operatives from Port Harcourt, who will oversee the controlled destruction in line with established safety procedures.
The Command emphasized that every necessary precaution has been put in place to ensure the exercise is carried out safely and without posing any danger to residents or the surrounding environment.
Members of the public, especially residents of Kporghor Community and neighboring areas, are therefore urged to remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic if they hear deafening sounds during the scheduled operation.
The Rivers State Police Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to public safety and encouraged everyone to cooperate with security agencies throughout the exercise.
