The Rivers State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against violent crime following the arrest of five suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate during a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Oyigbo Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out by operatives of the Oyigbo Divisional Police Station, forms part of the Command's intensified campaign against kidnapping and other violent crimes across Rivers State.

Intelligence-Led Operation Leads to Five Arrests

Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, psc, mnips, fcai, police operatives launched a coordinated operation that resulted in the arrest of five suspected kidnappers.

The suspects were identified as:

• Ezekiel Emmanuel (44) – Benue State
• Chukwuma Mbanefor (51) – Anambra State
• Nicholas Diala (65) – Imo State
• Ndubuisi Uwakwe (49) – Abia State
• Ifeanyi Nwakwo (51) – Imo State

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Suspects Allegedly Confess to Multiple Kidnapping Operations

According to the Rivers State Police Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in kidnapping activities.

Police further disclosed that the suspects admitted to participating in several kidnapping operations within:

• Kom-Kom Community
• Railway Community
• Obeama Community
• Afam Community

Authorities stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected criminal syndicate who remain at large.

Rivers Police Intensify War Against Kidnapping

Reacting to the successful operation, Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, stated that the arrests reflect the effectiveness of the operational directives and intelligence-driven policing strategy introduced by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that the Rivers State Police Command will continue to intensify operations against:

• Kidnapping
• Cultism
• Armed robbery
• Other violent crimes

He stressed that criminal elements would find no safe haven anywhere within Rivers State.

CP Adepoju warned kidnappers and other violent offenders that the Command remains committed to tracking, arresting, and prosecuting anyone involved in criminal activities.
