POLICE KILLERS HUNTED DOWN! RIVERS POLICE ARREST SUSPECTS, RECOVER STOLEN AK-47 RIFLES

The Rivers State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in the investigation into the brutal murder of two Police officers who were attacked while carrying out a stop-and-search operation in the Aluu Division area on 29th June, 2026.


The deadly attack claimed the lives of the officers after one of them sustained severe injuries that led to the amputation of his leg. The assailants also carted away the officers' service AK-47 rifles before fleeing the scene.


Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, PSC, mnips, FCAI, immediately ordered the deployment of the Command's operational and intelligence assets to track down the killers, recover the stolen firearms, and bring everyone involved to justice.


Acting on the Commissioner's directive, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) carried out intelligence-driven operations that led to the arrest of three suspected gang members:


Maduabuchi Emeka, alias "Doctor", 34, from Omoku, ONELGA.


Chinedu Owhor, 42, from Omoku, ONELGA.


Kamachi Joe, 28, from Omoku, ONELGA.



During the operation, Police recovered three AK-47 rifles and one Scorpion rifle. Preliminary investigations also linked the suspects to other murder cases currently under investigation.


The Rivers State Police Command disclosed that efforts have been intensified to arrest the fourth gang member, who remains on the run.


Commending the operatives for their courage, professionalism, and dedication, the Commissioner of Police said the breakthrough demonstrates the Command's determination to ensure that anyone who attacks Police officers or engages in violent crime has no hiding place in Rivers State.


CP Adepoju reaffirmed the Command's commitment to the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, PSC(+), NPM, stressing that Rivers State is not a safe haven for criminals.


He warned all criminal elements to abandon their unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law and urged residents to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information to strengthen crime-fighting efforts across the State.


The Rivers State Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring that every person responsible for violent crimes is identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
