CELEBRATION OF PCRC @ 42, RIVERS STATE POLICE COMMAND HEADQUARTERS: 20TH APRIL 2026
The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Rivers State Command, joined other states to kick-start the celebrations of the 42nd anniversary of the Police Community Relations Committee.
The PCRC Rivers State Command, celebrated with a road walk to create awareness, starting from the Police Officers' Mess, and terminating at the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters, where the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, psc, mnips, and his management team received the members. The State PCRC Chairman, Dr Voke Emore gave a report of the activities of the PCRC under his stewardship in the last twelve (12) months. While also speaking to the press, he requested that the community do more to partner with the police.
The PCRC also used the occasion to gift food packs to all the officers and men on duty. The Bikers' Unit, as well as some of the PCRC partners, including the Commercial Drivers Welfare Association (CDWA) added colour to the celebrations.
Another highpoint of the celebration was a visit to the pioneer chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, Rivers State Command, Alabo Prof. S.J.S. Cookey. At the visit, the State Chairman, Dr Voke Emore paid homage to the founding fathers of the PCRC, confessing that our success today would not have been possible without the foundation laid by them. He gave a rundown of the activities of the PCRC since our last visit to Alabo Prof. Cookey, while also mentioning the challenges. He was particularly grateful to God that at 92 years, Alabo Prof SJS Cookey was still active and available, and promised to always consult him so as to tap from his wealth of knowledge and experience.
In his response, Alabo Prof. S.J.S. Cookey commended the current PCRC Chairman for being consistent and dogged in his leadership, promising to always keep his doors open to the PCRC.
