PCRC Oyigbo Division Unveils Four Landmark Projects Amid Fun, Culture, and Security Commitment
Hurray, Oyigbo! 🎊
The 9th of August 2025 will go down as a day to remember in the history of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Oyigbo Division. What was expected to be a regular monthly general meeting quickly transformed into a vibrant celebration of progress, culture, and community spirit.
The day began with the usual security reports, keeping members informed about ongoing efforts to maintain peace and safety. But soon, the atmosphere shifted from formal briefings to excitement, laughter, and entertainment. The PCRC Oyigbo Division had something special in store for its members and the wider community — the unveiling and commissioning of not one, not two, but four landmark projects that will enhance both functionality and aesthetics of the division’s premises.
The Four Projects That Made the Day Unforgettable
1️⃣ A Hi-Tech Signpost – Standing tall and unmistakable, this new signpost finally puts the Oyigbo Division back on the map, literally. For the first time since the unfortunate vandalisation during the #ENDSARS saga in 2020, visitors can once again identify the division without confusion.
2️⃣ Suggestion/Complaint Box – Encouraging transparency, communication, and feedback, this box gives community members a direct voice in improving service delivery.
3️⃣ Furnishing of the DCO1 Office – With newly installed befitting curtains, the office now exudes an atmosphere of professionalism and warmth.
4️⃣ Artistic Inscription on the Divisional Building – A unique and eye-catching inscription now proudly identifies the building among others in the compound, creating a sense of pride and ownership.
A Royal and Law Enforcement Partnership
The unveiling ceremony was nothing short of grand. The traditional ruler of Oyigbo Urban, His Royal Highness Eze Kingsley Akọbundu Nwogu (PhD) JP, the Eze Ọha IV of Oyigbo, represented by his cabinet chief, joined forces with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP (Barr.) Ugochukwu Ijeoma, to cut the symbolic ribbons. Their joint presence sent a strong message of unity, cultural pride, and a shared commitment to community safety.
Both dignitaries praised the PCRC Oyigbo Division for their dedication to development and pledged continuous collaboration to combat crime and criminality within the jurisdiction.
From Destruction to Restoration
The projects are more than just physical improvements — they are symbols of resilience. After the division’s signpost and facilities were destroyed during the #ENDSARS protests of 2020, there had been no official signage for the Division, Area Command, and Tactical Teams. Today, with these new projects, the Oyigbo Division is not just back; it’s stronger, bolder, and better equipped to serve.
Celebration with a Purpose
And because no PCRC meeting is complete without some fun and heavy entertainment, the event ended on a joyous note. Members shared laughter, cultural dances filled the air, and community bonds were strengthened — all while keeping their eyes on the bigger goal: a safer, more united Oyigbo.
To God be the Glory!
The PCRC Oyigbo Division has shown that with unity, vision, and a commitment to service, progress is not just possible — it’s inevitable.
