The Rivers State Police Command has strongly condemned the gruesome attack that rocked Omoku on 22nd July, 2026, resulting in the death of one OSPAC official and three other persons, while another victim, Obidi Emenike, sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, disturbing, and a serious threat to the relative peace in Rivers State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, PSC, mnips, FCAI, assured residents that the Command has launched intensive efforts to identify, arrest, and prosecute everyone connected to the heinous crime.

The Commissioner emphasized that the Rivers State Police Command will not allow criminal elements to undermine the security gains recorded across the State, stressing that those responsible will face the full weight of the law.

CP Adepoju also called on all community-based security groups and local vigilante outfits across Rivers State to work closely with the Police under the supervision of their respective Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders. According to him, proper coordination will enhance operational effectiveness while protecting members of community security groups from becoming targets of criminal attacks.

The Command appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding while assisting investigators with timely and credible information. Citizens were assured that all information provided would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

The Rivers State Police Command reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and vowed to intensify operations until those behind the Omoku attack are brought to justice.
