Missing Youth Found Dead: Rivers Police Nab Suspects, Recover Body in Shocking Breakthrough

The Rivers State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in the investigation into the disappearance and killing of Sampson Worianime, a youth from Ogbogbo Community.

What Happened

According to an official press release, Sampson Worianime was reported missing on November 11, 2025, after accompanying members of his community youth to measure land at their old settlement. His disappearance prompted concern and a formal petition by his mother, which triggered swift police action.

Intelligence-Led Arrests

Acting on intelligence, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) launched an investigation that led to the arrest of two suspects:

  • Igwe Alex (26) – the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Aleto-Eleme Community
  • John Mikel (24) – also of Aleto-Eleme

During preliminary investigations, the suspects confessed to abducting two youths from Okrika. While one victim reportedly escaped, Sampson Worianime was killed. The suspects later led police operatives to a shallow grave near a river where the victim’s remains were recovered.

Police Assure Justice

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure that all those involved are identified and prosecuted. The suspects remain in custody and are cooperating with investigators as efforts continue to apprehend other accomplices.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and justice, urging residents to provide credible information that can assist the ongoing investigation.

Murder Suspects Arrested, Remains of Deceased Victim Recovered.


The Rivers State Police Command has made significant progress in the investigation into the disappearance of Sampson Worianime, who was reported missing on November 11, 2025, after accompanying his Community Youth from Ogbogbo Community in Okrika to measure land at their old settlement.


Following a distressing petition by the victim's mother, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) launched an investigation, leveraging intelligence led Policing, leading to the arrest of two suspects, including one Igwe Alex ‘m’ 26yrs old the CSO of Aleto-Eleme Community and John Mikel ‘m’ 24 yrs old all of Aleto Eleme.


During a preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to abducting two youths from Okrika; including the victim, one escaped, while Worianime was killed by the suspects and his body dumped into a nearby river.


The suspects led Police Operatives to the location where the corpse was buried, and the remains of the deceased victim were recovered from a shallow grave. The suspects are currently in Police custody, cooperating with team of investigators. Efforts are underway to apprehend other accomplices.
