BREAKING: Rivers Police Smash Deadly Cult Network in Diobu - Shocking Weapons Recovered!

The Rivers State Police Command has carried out one of its most decisive operations yet—dismantling a violent, heavily-armed cult network responsible for months of terror in Diobu, Port Harcourt.

This breakthrough follows a coordinated crackdown on the deadly inter-rival war between the Blood Suckers (BS) and D12, both factions of the notorious Deygbam cult group.

The cult war, which erupted in May 2025, left multiple casualties and plunged residents into fear. But the tide has finally turned.

Major Breakthrough: Top Suspects Arrested

Police operatives, acting on intelligence-driven operations, arrested the following suspects linked to the brutal clashes:

  1. Diepreye Gogo-Abite (43)
  2. Godsfollow Monday (30)
  3. Ifeanyi Sampson (28)
  4. Gift Emmanuel (28)
  5. Friday Godwin (24)
  6. Chukwemeka Dike (31)
  7. Brown Otu (23)
  8. Dieseyi Ukulu (43)

Their arrest set the stage for the discovery of a hidden weapons cache linked to the gang’s operations.

Weapons Recovered - A Shocking Arsenal

During interrogation, 43-year-old Dieseyi Ukulu confessed and led police to his residence where the following items were uncovered inside a black bag:

  • 1 Scorpion VZ61 submachine gun
  • 1 English-made fabricated Beretta pistol
  • 20 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition
  • 2 rounds of 9mm live ammunition
  • 1 screwdriver disguised as sunglasses

This discovery exposed the scale of the group’s arms trafficking structure and confirmed the police’s worst suspicions about their level of organization.

Arrest of the Group's Chief Armourer

Another major blow to the cult empire was the arrest of Chidiebere Nwaiwu, also known as “Daddy”, on August 26, 2025.

Nwaiwu was believed to be the group’s chief armourer and a key figure in gunrunning operations within Port Harcourt.

He died a day later in the hospital after suddenly falling ill; his remains have been preserved for autopsy.

Before his arrest, he had already planned an ambush to assassinate Police Operatives posted on special duty in the Rumuosi/Rumuagholu axis over a land dispute. He was working alongside Michael Ejike (alias Effizy) and Clinton Anwusor.

Manhunt Success: Another Suspect Arrested After Fleeing to Imo State

The police widened their net and on September 16, 2025, arrested Michael Ejike in Imo State, where he had been hiding.

Ejike confessed to sneaking weapons out of “Daddy’s” home through his sister, following the explicit instructions of Ugochukwu Ukeagbu (a.k.a. Ugo King), the feared leader of the Blood Suckers.

Police say the search for more weapons and the final dismantling of remaining cult cells is ongoing.

Why Police Maintained Strategic Silence

The Rivers State Police Command revealed that their earlier silence on updates was deliberate—aimed at preventing panic and ensuring accomplices were tracked down without alerting them.

Today, several suspects are already in court, with others—including Ejike and Anwusor—set to face prosecution once investigations conclude.

CP Adepoju Commends Officers, Hails Community Support

Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, praised the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved.

He emphasized that these arrests have restored peace to Diobu and urged residents to remain vigilant while cooperating with law enforcement.

A Major Victory Against Cultism in Rivers State

This operation marks a significant win for Rivers State’s security efforts. With key suspects arrested, weapons recovered, and cult networks disrupted, residents of Diobu can finally breathe easier.

But the Command assures that the mission continues until every remaining cell is dismantled and peace is fully restored.
