Rivers State Police Command Arrests Suspect in Viral Video of Choba Armed Robbery and Car Snatching Case

The Rivers State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in the investigation of a viral armed robbery incident that occurred at Choba, Port Harcourt, on October 15, 2025, around 3:00 PM. The shocking video, which circulated widely across social media platforms, showed armed men violently snatching a Toyota Avalon car at gunpoint, leaving residents in panic.


Swift Response and Arrest

Acting swiftly on credible intelligence and with the support of advanced technical tracking, operatives of the Rivers State Police Command successfully apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Iruo Young, male, aged 42, at his hideout in Ikoku, Port Harcourt.

During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to his involvement in the robbery and provided investigators with valuable information that is already aiding efforts to locate and arrest his accomplices.


Ongoing Investigation

The Rivers State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation to track down the remaining suspects, recover the stolen vehicle, and seize the firearms used during the attack.

Authorities have assured the public that the Command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all members of the gang are brought to justice.


CP Adepoju Commends Officers and Citizens

Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, lauded the operatives involved in the operation for their diligence, professionalism, and swift response, which led to the successful arrest.

He also extended appreciation to members of the public who provided credible and timely information, reinforcing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining security.

“Rivers State will not serve as a haven for criminals. We remain steadfast in our commitment to protect lives and property while ensuring that lawbreakers face the full weight of justice,” — CP Olugbenga Adepoju stated.

The CP reaffirmed that the Police Command is fully dedicated to making Rivers State unsafe for criminals but safe for law-abiding residents through continuous intelligence-led operations.

Significant Breakthrough in Armed Robbery/Car Snatch , Suspect Arrested.


The Rivers State Police Command has made another remarkable achievement in a swift operation and investigation into the viral video circulating on the social media space, depicting an armed robbery incident at Choba area of Port Harcourt on October 15, 2025. The incident which occurred at about 1500hrs, involved the snatching of a Toyota Avalon car at gunpoint.


Through intelligence-led Policing and technical support, Operatives of the Command has successfully apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Iruo Young M. 'm' aged 42 years, at his hideout in Ikoku, Port Harcourt. 


During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime, providing detailed information about his involvement in the robbery incident.


The suspect is currently in Police custody, and an in-depth investigation has been launched to apprehend the other fleeing suspects, recover the stolen vehicle, and retrieve the firearms used in the commission of the crime.


The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A.
