RIVERS POLICE SWING INTO ACTION! CP ORDERS PROBE INTO VIRAL ILLEGAL DETENTION ALLEGATIONS
The Rivers State Police Command has responded swiftly to an online publication alleging unlawful detention and misconduct by police personnel, assuring the public that a thorough investigation is already underway.
In a decisive move, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has directed an investigative panel to carefully examine the allegations and establish the true facts surrounding the incident.
Public Invited to Provide Information
As part of efforts to ensure transparency and fairness, the Command is calling on affected individuals and members of the public with credible information relating to the case to come forward.
Concerned persons are encouraged to visit the Office of the Police Public Relations Officer or contact the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) through the designated emergency lines.
CP Issues Strong Warning
The Commissioner of Police emphasized that detention beyond the legally permitted period without due process is unlawful and unacceptable.
He further warned that any officer found guilty of unethical conduct, abuse of power, or violations of citizens' rights will face strict disciplinary action in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Nigeria Police Act.
