Port Harcourt One Chance Nightmare! Rivers Police Arrest Suspected Syndicate Behind ₦4.6 Million ATM Heist
he Rivers State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against organized crime following the arrest of several suspects allegedly connected to a dangerous “One Chance” syndicate operating within Port Harcourt.
The suspects are accused of masterminding a sophisticated ATM fraud scheme that led to the theft of over ₦4.6 million from a resident’s bank account.
How the Shocking Incident Happened
According to police reports, the case was reported on April 26, 2026, at about 7:30 PM by Mrs. Rosemary Vincent, a resident of Port Harcourt.
Preliminary investigations revealed that her house help, identified as Praise Sampson, was deceived into boarding a taxi operated by suspected members of the syndicate.
The suspects allegedly manipulated and pressured her into surrendering two ATM cards belonging to her employer.
Before the victim realized what was happening, the suspects had reportedly withdrawn a staggering ₦4,607,199 from the employer’s bank account.
Swift Police Operation Leads to Arrests
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, operatives attached to the Choba Division launched an immediate intelligence-driven operation.
The coordinated raid led to the arrest of multiple suspects believed to be members of the criminal network.
The arrested suspects include:
- Praise Sampson (Female, 20 years) — Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA
- Michael Chijioke (Male, 36 years) — Abia State
- Ndubuisi Jonah (Male) — Abia State
- Ehirim Ugonna (Male, 38 years) — Imo State
- Okeke Chizoba Daniel (Male, 40 years) — Imo State
Police say the suspects have allegedly been linked to several criminal activities terrorizing residents within the Port Harcourt metropolis.
Police Issue Fresh Security Warning
Following the arrests, the Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid careless interactions with strangers.
The Police Command also warned members of the public never to disclose sensitive banking details such as:
- ATM cards
- PIN numbers
- Banking passwords
Residents were further advised to avoid boarding suspicious vehicles and to promptly report unusual activities to security agencies.
