PCRC Task Force Begins Crackdown on Illegal Paraphernalia in Port Harcourt

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Rivers State has taken another bold step in restoring discipline and integrity within its ranks. On September 11, 2025, the Task Force on the use of illegal and unauthorized PCRC paraphernalia officially began its operations across Port Harcourt Metropolis.

This move comes shortly after the PCRC announced the formation of the Task Force in an earlier update, aimed at curbing the misuse of PCRC items by individuals with no ties to the committee.

First Day of Enforcement in Port Harcourt

The Task Force, accompanied by officers from the Rivers State Police Headquarters, moved into action by retrieving illegal paraphernalia from individuals parading themselves with PCRC identifiers.

  • Most of those apprehended were not members of the PCRC.
  • Several items collected were not officially produced by the PCRC, while others were obsolete paraphernalia whose production had long been discontinued.

This proactive enforcement underscores the seriousness of the PCRC’s mission to maintain its credibility and identity.

Strengthening Discipline and Integrity

By launching this operation, the PCRC aims to:

  • Protect its official identity and symbols.
  • Prevent impersonation and misuse of PCRC paraphernalia.
  • Build greater public trust in the Committee’s role as a bridge between the police and the community.

The presence of Police personnel during the operation also highlights the partnership and support of the Rivers State Police Command in ensuring the Task Force achieves its mandate.

Looking Ahead

The PCRC Rivers State leadership has reiterated its commitment to sustaining the operations of the Task Force until unauthorized paraphernalia are completely eliminated. This effort is expected to further boost professionalism, accountability, and discipline within the PCRC.
