The Nigeria Police Force is set to take another major step toward technology-driven policing as the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, prepares to launch the Nigeria Police Force Vigilant App and MTN Closed User Group Network.

The launch is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre in Abuja.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to modernize policing, strengthen communication and improve operational efficiency within the Nigeria Police Force.

Vigilant App To Strengthen Police-Public Engagement

The NPF Vigilant App is designed to improve engagement and information sharing between the Police and members of the public.

The application is expected to provide an additional platform for communication between citizens and the Police, supporting more responsive and people-centred policing.

MTN CUG Network To Improve Police Communication

The launch will also introduce the MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network, which will provide a dedicated communication platform for Police personnel.

According to the Force, the network is expected to facilitate faster and more seamless communication among officers, thereby strengthening internal coordination and improving operational efficiency.

Technology At The Centre Of Police Reform

The Nigeria Police Force said the initiative reflects IGP Disu's commitment to leveraging modern technology and strategic partnerships to strengthen policing and improve service delivery.

The Force further reaffirmed its determination to harness innovation and technology to enhance operational effectiveness and provide Nigerians with more responsive, efficient and people-centred security services.
